Rand Paul Comments – Rand Paul, the Tea Party candidate who challenged the Republican establishment to win the party’s Senate nomination in Kentucky two days ago, criticized a landmark civil rights law on Thursday, landing himself in a potentially damaging dispute over civil rights and race.
Mr. Paul, in a series of television and radio interviews, suggested that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was too broad and should not apply to private businesses, such as luncheonettes. As his statements drew a swarm of attacks from his opponents, Mr. Paul issued a statement declaring that he would not support repealing the landmark 1964 statute and blaming political opponents for trying to distort his views by saying he favored repeal, reports the NYTimes.com.
“Let me be clear, I support the Civil Rights Act because I overwhelmingly agree with the intent of the legislation, which was to stop discrimination in the public sphere and halt the abhorrent practice of segregation and Jim Crow laws,” he said. Later, in an interview on CNN, he said that if he had been in the Senate in 1964, he would have supported the act.

Who Got Kicked Off American Idol May 19th?
Who Got Kicked Off American Idol May 19th? – The top three finalists are down to two on American Idol as idol hopeful Casey James was sent packing during last night’s elimination. Only a pair of contestants remains as the season finale nears.
Tuesday night (May 18) was extremely important as the top three season 9 idols each performed two songs. Down to the wire, Casey didn’t really show the fans he was in it to win it.
James’ first song was less than impressive. It was an overall poor performance as Casey sang out of tune, and looked extremely uncomfortable, as though he knew how bad it really was.

Joe Sestak Beats Arlen Specter – Controversial senator Arlen Specter has lost his Senate seat in the 2010 Pennsylvania primary election to Joe Sestak, ending his 30-year career.
Specter, the five-term Republican senator from Pennsylvania, had taken a lot of heat for being only one of three Republicans to vote for President Obama’s stimulus package.
Most polls showed that Specter wouldn’t be able to defeat his GOP challenger, Pat Toomey, in the 2010 primaries. “The prospects for winning a Republican primary [in Pennsylvania] are bleak,” Specter acknowledged at the time.”

Kelly Preston John Travolta Pregnant
Kelly Preston John Travolta Pregnant – John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston are expecting a baby, after the tragic loss of their son Jett last year.
The couple confirmed the wonderful news on Preston’s website, saying, “It’s impossible to keep a secret… especially one as wonderful as this.”
Preston, 47, is now three months pregnant. Travolta is 56. The baby is due in November.
It was in January of 2009 when the family suffered the devastating death of their first born, Jett. The 16-year-old collapsed after having a seizure at their vacation villa in the Bahamas. To add to their pain, the ambulance driver who transported Jett, allegedly demanded $25 million from John Travolta, threatening to release documents relating to Jett’s final hours. At the extortion trial in September, Travolta testified how he frantically tried to revive his dying son. For the first time, he revealed that Jett was autistic and endured a lifetime of seizures.
